Tori Bowen | Website

Task

Tori Bowen is a professional portrait photographer from Montreal. She wanted a very sophisticated website to show her potential clients that her main focus is on women, their strong feminine nature.

My main task was to create a balanced design that would combine both feminist and feminine vibes in it.

Tori also wanted a matching logo that she would not only use for the website but also for her photobooks and business cards

I need a powerful yet feminine website for my portfolio

Solution

A portfolio should be built around a person’s key feature

Blue Corn Moon

For this project, I chose straight lines and simple shapes in order to emphasize the powerful statement that Tori brings out with her art.

The first element that Tori’s potential customers see is her art, of course. I’m pretty sure that’s the main reason why people visit photographers’ portfolio websites — to see the ART.

The typography I used was a combination of the script (for the logo and some decorative elements) and a mix of serifs and sans-serifs.

Color scheme

I chose these colors because they correlate well with Tori’s photographs that I placed all around the website. Most of the colors were sampled out of her best photos.

website design for a photographer

Tori’s brand is built around her name — Tori B. I wanted to emphasize that and used her initials to create this logo. It is simple yet recognizable and easy replicable on the marketing materials of any type

Customer’s feedback

Love that my portfolio looks much different than my fellow wedding and portrait photographers’ websites! It has its character, some uniqueness to it. Thank you, Adele and the team
